Service Description

Offer students an engaging, educational adventure in the heart of Lopinot. This term, Mariposa Gardens and Agua Viva Eco-Life present immersive tours designed for students to connect with nature, local culture and sustainable practices. Mariposa Gardens Activities: 1) Creole Cocoa Tea: Students will be given a complimentary cup of Creole Cocoa Tea. 2) Cocoa Tour: Students enjoy a comprehensive chocolate journey, including an introduction to cocoa trees, cultivation and the chocolate-making process. The tour includes "cocoa dancing," a lively tradition that originally helped reduce fungus on beans, and they’ll participate in a chocolate demonstration, sampling hot cocoa and 70% ToryVen dark chocolate. 3) Nature Trail Walk: Explore the natural trails around Café Mariposa, encountering local flora and fauna. Highlights include rock formations and a "dinosaur footprint" stone. 4) Sebucan/Maypole Dance: Students also have the option to join the traditional Sebucan dance, celebrating the arrival of spring with colorful ribbons. Agua Viva Eco-Life Activities: 1) Catch & Release Fishing: Enjoy recreational fishing at the Tilapia pond with three varieties of fish. Students practice catch and release using specially designed hooks to protect fish, experiencing the joy of fishing in a safe and sustainable way. 2) Garden Centre Visit: Students can browse an array of herbs, medicinal plants, and ornamental greens available for purchase. Tour Rate: TT$70.00 per teacher/student, including all guided activities at both sites. The tour combines hands-on learning in cocoa production, local ecology, and catch and release fishing. Pre-Order Food Options: To keep students energised, order from a selection of local snacks like mini lasagna, tortillas, empanadas, pizza rolls or traditional items like paime and cinnamon rolls. Drinks and ice cream are also available. Each tour experience is curated for students to explore Trinidad's culture, biodiversity and sustainable agriculture practices. This is an excellent opportunity to merge education with recreation for a memorable field trip that leaves a lasting impression!
