Soil:

• Well-drained, light soil. It can grow well in slightly alkaline or stony calcareous soils. Rosemary can grow with maritime exposure. Rosemary does not grow well in heavy soils. The plant has been reported to grow in hot conditions and along dry and rocky places, particularly near the sea.
• Mulch (such as grass clippings and wood chips) can be added to the surface of the soil to retain moisture and keep down weeds.

Watering Frequency:

• Water the soil primarily when the soil is dry.
• Watering rosemary should be that the soil is not soggy.
• It is drought tolerant.

Pruning and Maintenance:

• Prune (deadhead) stems or leaves when they appear to wilt, look diseased, or turn yellow, purple or brown.
• Pruning can aid in stimulating new growth and keep the rosemary bushy. Harvested cuttings could be replanted or used in various ways.

May have adverse interactions with prescription drugs, such as those used to treat blood clots, high blood pressure and manic depression, and drugs that are diuretics.

 

Generally non-toxic when used in small amounts.

 

Though rare, very high doses may induce vomiting, spasms, coma and fluid in the lungs.
